WMS Renaissance Program
Williamstown Middle School is proud to participate in the nationally recognized Renaissance Program, celebrating academic excellence, positive citizenship, and active participation in both school + community activities.
Students, staff, and community members are acknowledged for their achievements in academics, attendance, behavior, and involvement.

Recognizing achievement, responsibility, and involvement at Williamstown Middle School.
The WMS Renaissance Program recognizes students for their academic performance, attendance, positive behavior, and participation in school activities. Eligibility is reviewed each marking period, giving students opportunities to work toward recognition throughout the school year.
Renaissance Requirements
Students must meet the following requirements during each marking period to qualify for Renaissance recognition.
Academics
Maintain grades of 80 or higher.
Attendance
Have no more than 2 undocumented absences during the marking period.
Discipline
Students must have:
- No more than 1 lunch detention
- 0 after-school detentions
- 0 CARES referrals
- 0 bus suspensions
- 0 out-of-school suspensions
School Involvement
Sixth-grade students must participate in an after-school club, activity, or sport.
Participation must be verified each marking period with a form signed by the student's advisor or coach.

Clubs & School Involvement
Students can explore clubs, sports, and activities that reflect their interests while becoming more involved in the WMS community.
Braves Club
Braves Club provides an after-school involvement option open to all WMS students.
Meetings are generally held from 3:00–4:00 PM. Students are not required to attend every meeting.
Students should follow school announcements for meeting dates, participation instructions, and required forms.

From arts and music to leadership, service, and athletics, WMS offers a variety of opportunities for students.
Please note: Braves Club is separate from the B.R.A.V.E.S. Club listed in the WMS activities directory, which focuses on environmental and community leadership projects.
Participation Verification
Sixth-grade students must submit verification of their after-school involvement each marking period.
- Participate in an activity Join an approved after-school club, activity, or sport.
- Obtain an advisor's signature Ask the club advisor or coach to sign the Renaissance participation verification form.
- Submit the completed form Return the signed form according to WMS submission instructions.

Renaissance Recognition
- Membership stickers: Eligible students receive a Renaissance sticker for the back of their school ID. Stickers change each marking period.
- Recognition opportunities: Members may receive school privileges and invitations to designated Renaissance activities or celebrations.
- Marking-period eligibility: Eligibility is reviewed each marking period. Students with an incomplete grade may be reconsidered once the grade is resolved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Renaissance count as a club for NJHS?
No. Renaissance is a student recognition program, not an extracurricular club or activity. It does not satisfy NJHS activity participation requirements.

Must students attend every Braves Club meeting?
No. Braves Club provides a flexible opportunity for students to participate. Students should follow current school instructions and obtain the required verification signature.
