WMS Dance Team

The Williamstown Dance Team, established in the winter of 2023, offers a unique and exciting opportunity for our most dedicated and advanced dancers to take their skills to the next level. Comprising two competitive levels—Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV)—the team is designed for students who are passionate about dance, eager to improve their technique, and ready to perform at a high level. Both teams have a demanding, but rewarding, schedule that includes training, competition, and performance throughout the school year.

Varsity Dance Team

The Varsity Dance Team is made up of select 7th and 8th grade students who are chosen and invited through a rigorous selection process. This team is for dancers who have already demonstrated advanced skills, commitment, and a strong work ethic. Being part of the Varsity team means students are expected to consistently perform at a high level, both in practice and at events.

Varsity dancers train twice a week after school to prepare for competitions, dance conventions, and the school’s major dance showcases. Members of the Varsity team represent the school at various competitive events, taking on both technical and creative challenges. They also attend dance conventions, where they take master classes with industry professionals and refine their skills in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. The Varsity Dance Team is a prestigious group that offers students the chance to build their confidence, leadership skills, and performance experience.

JV Dance Team

The Junior Varsity Dance Team is an audition-based team for dancers who are committed to improving their technique and ready to take on the challenges of performance and competition. Auditions for JV are held every September, and dancers must demonstrate strong technical ability, stage presence, and the potential for growth in their craft.

JV members train once a week after school to prepare for performances and competitions, These dancers are given the opportunity  participate in school showcases and gain valuable experience performing in front of audiences. While the expectations for the JV team are high, the team provides a supportive environment where dancers can continue to develop their skills in preparation for the future.
