Knowing when to ask for help is important. So is knowing how to support someone else who may need it.
As School Violence Awareness Week continues, we’re encouraging families to talk with their children about ways they can look out for their classmates.
A few simple reminders:
-
Check in: A friendly conversation can help someone who seems upset or left out feel supported.
-
Avoid adding to the problem: Choose not to participate in hurtful behavior or spread rumors and harmful messages.
-
Know when to reach out: If something raises a concern, tell a trusted adult rather than trying to handle a difficult or unsafe situation alone.
These are small but meaningful ways students can help one another throughout the school year.
Resources for Families:
Families can also contact their child’s school directly with questions or concerns.
Looking out for others is something we can encourage every day, well beyond this week.
