Radix Preschoolers Bring the Beat with Drum2BFit!

Posted Date: 10/22/26 (03:35 PM)

A group of children and an instructor participate in an outdoor fitness class, drumming on large exercise balls with sticks at a playground.

A few curious looks quickly turned into big smiles on the Radix playground this morning. With drumsticks in hand and bouncy exercise balls in front of them, our preschoolers were ready for some music and movement with Drum2BFit!

Instructor Valerie Gouse led the children in cardio drumming, showing them how to use the balls as drums while moving to the music. They lifted their sticks overhead, leaned from side to side and tapped along to the beat, with staff joining in alongside them.

When “Baby Shark” and “Golden” began to play, the playground filled with cheers and some very enthusiastic singing. The children knew every word, and we suspect a few families reading this would have known them, too!

Children and adults participate in an outdoor music and fitness class with drumsticks and exercise balls.

Keeping a beat takes concentration, especially when there’s a favorite song to sing at the same time. As they held the sticks and followed Valerie’s movements, the children practiced coordinating their hands and bodies, listening closely and following directions. The photos capture both the attention that went into each movement and the enjoyment of joining in with classmates.

Throughout the week, our early learning team is bringing this same Drum2BFit experience to every preschool classroom across Monroe Township Public Schools. Today, we’re sharing Radix’s turn with families throughout the district and a look at the learning and fun happening in these early school years.

A special thank-you to Valerie and the Drum2BFit team, our early learning team, and the MTPS administrators and teachers who made these visits possible. And thank you to our preschoolers for bringing so much enthusiasm!

Enjoy these moments from a lively morning at Radix!
